Flea Pest Control
If you’re dealing with a flea infestation in your home or business and feel like you’re losing the battle then talk to us.
We provide expert flea treatment services across Glasgow with better results. Our experienced technicians understand the habits and lifecycle of fleas inside out, and we know exactly what it takes to eliminate them.
Fleas are more than just a nuisance. Left untreated, they can multiply rapidly, cause serious discomfort to your pets, and even bite humans. DIY treatments rarely tackle the problem at its source—because a full infestation isn’t just on your pet or in plain sight.
Most DIY sprays are simply not powerful enough to kill fleas. Also the difference in treatment methods and thoroughness by a homeowner and professional tends to be quite significant as well.
Why Fleas Are So Persistent—and How We Tackle Them
Fleas are small, parasitic insects that feed on the blood of warm-blooded animals, including dogs, cats, and humans. While adult fleas are the ones you’ll see hopping about, most of the flea population exists in immature stages you can’t see: eggs, larvae, and pupae hiding deep in carpets, cracks, bedding, and upholstery.
The pupal stage of a flea lifecycle is particularly resistant to treatment due to a hard shell they have of a protein called chitin.
A typical flea lifecycle can last anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on conditions. After feeding on a host, adult female fleas can lay up to 50 eggs per day. These eggs drop off into your environment, where they hatch into larvae, develop into pupae, and finally emerge as new adult fleas ready to feed and start the cycle all over again.
Here’s why this is important: killing adult fleas alone doesn’t solve the problem. Eggs and pupae can survive hidden in your home, waiting for the right conditions to hatch. That’s why professional treatment—often more than once—is essential for complete eradication.
Tailored Flea Control—Delivered by Qualified Professionals
At City Pest Solutions, we take a comprehensive approach to flea control. We start by assessing the severity of the infestation and identifying all potential harbourage sites. Every home is different, and every infestation is unique—so our treatment plan is tailored to your situation.
We use professional-grade insecticides that target both adult fleas and their developing stages. Our stuff is much stronger and tried and tested with regards to flea eradication.
Depending on the scale of the infestation, we may recommend multiple visits to break the lifecycle and ensure full control. Our technicians are fully trained, BPCA qualified, and carry out all treatments with safety and discretion in mind.
Important: Treat the Host, Too
A crucial part of any successful flea treatment is addressing the source: the host animal. Your pet is the main carrier of fleas, and if they are not treated at the same time as your home, the infestation can quickly re-establish itself.
That’s why we strongly advise all our clients to take their pets to the vet or use a veterinary-approved flea treatment at the same time we treat the premises. This two-pronged approach—treating both the environment and the host—is the only reliable way to get results.

Flea FAQs
How do I know if I have fleas in my home?
Common signs include pets scratching more than usual, small itchy bites on your lower legs or ankles, black specks (flea dirt) in pet bedding or carpets, and occasionally seeing fleas jumping on furniture or flooring.
Can fleas live on humans?
Fleas prefer furry hosts like cats and dogs, but they can bite humans—especially around the ankles, feet, or legs. However, they don’t live on humans long-term or lay eggs on us.
Why do I need a professional flea treatment?
Over-the-counter sprays and foggers often only kill adult fleas, not eggs or larvae. A professional service like ours targets all life stages and uses stronger, longer-lasting products—backed by expert knowledge and follow-up if needed.
Will I need more than one treatment?
Usually but not always if it’s a particularly light problem. Flea pupae can survive for weeks in the environment before hatching. In moderate to heavy infestations, we recommend a second treatment after 7–14 days to ensure complete eradication. In situations where the home owner has already done a lot of diy treatment and has the numbers down significantly we can come in and hammer the final nail in the coffin for these horrible creatures. In heavy infestations it can take upto 5 treatments spaced apart to eradicate the entire flea population.
Do I have to treat my pet as well?
Yes—this is essential. Fleas will continue to feed and reproduce on untreated pets, meaning reinfestation is very likely. Your pet should be treated at the same time as your property, using vet-approved flea products.
What do I need to do before and after the flea treatment?
Before treatment, vacuum all carpets and soft furnishings and clear clutter from floors. After treatment, avoid vacuuming for 7–14 days to allow the insecticide to work fully. We’ll provide further full instructions before we begin.
Are your flea treatments safe for pets and children?
Yes. Our treatments are safe when used correctly by trained professionals. We will advise you to leave the property during and for a short time after the treatment (usually 4-6 hours), and pets should also be kept away until the area is fully dry and ventilated.
How long does it take to get rid of fleas completely?
This depends on the extent of the infestation and environmental conditions. Some homes are flea-free in a matter of days, while more severe infestations can take a several weeks and require repeat treatment.
Can fleas come back after treatment?
If pets are not treated or if flea eggs hatch after the treatment, fleas can return. That’s why follow-up visits and thorough cleaning are important. We’ll guide you through everything needed to keep your home flea-free. Also your pet can sometimes pick up fleas if the external environment has a high number of them.
Do you offer flea control for commercial properties?
Yes, we regularly treat offices, shops, letting agency properties, vets, and kennels throughout Glasgow. Our service is discreet, professional, and tailored to your business needs.
Sometimes people get fleas for no obvious reasons. We can still help.
